In August 2015, the Gerontology Center was set to work within the Hospital.

Center’s Mission is to conduct scientific research in the field of gerontology and anti-aging medicine to promote healthy aging.

  • «The development of innovative technologies increasing diagnosis and treatment efficiency of the cervix background and precancerous diseases associated with HPV»

  • The project aims. Development of innovative technologies that increase the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of background and precancerous diseases of the cervix associated with HPV.
  • Project tasks.
    • 1. Evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of the applied methods of treatment of background and precancerous diseases of the cervix associated with HPV.
    • 2. Development of an improved, effective and safe method for the treatment of background and precancerous diseases of the cervix associated with HPV, using laser technologies with photosensitization (then - PS). 
    • 3. Development of a method of fluorescent diagnostics using PS for background and precancerous diseases of the cervix associated with HPV. 
    • 4. Development of a method for assessing the "burnout" of FS during local photodynamic therapy (then- PDT). 
    • 5. Development and implementation of an optimal PDT program for complete eradication of HPV. 
  • Expected results.
  • For the first time, immunological and molecular genetic data will be obtained reflecting the causes of HPV persistence and the duration of its elimination when using complex PDT technology
  • For the first time in the Republic of Kazakhstan, an innovative complex laser technology of light therapy with photosensitization will be developed and used for the treatment of HPV-associated precancerous diseases of the cervix, taking into account the endotype.
  • 3 articles and (or) reviews will be published in peer-reviewed scientific publications in the scientific direction of the program, included in the 1, 2  and (or) 3 quartile by the impact factor in the database Web of Science data and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50, 3 articles in peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publications recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, abstracts and 2 reports at international scientific and practical conferences, a patent of the Kazakhstan Patent Bureau, methodological recommendations, suggestions for periodic clinical protocols, monograph.

  • "Investigation of the types of intestinal microbiota in patients with insulin resistance in the Kazakh population"
  • Individual registration number АР14871581
  • Execution period - 2022 -2024
  • Funding source - Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (contract No. 176/30-22-24 of October 18, 2022).
  • The head of the temporary scientific team is Abildinova Gulshara Zhusupovna.
  • Aim of the project. To determine the predictive value of the species diversity of the intestinal microbiota in case of insulin resistance in the Kazakh population.
  • Project tasks.
    • 1. Collection and compilation of phenotypic and genotypic data on 200 study participants;
    • 2. Study of phenotypic associations of study participants using the structure of intestinal microbiota based on sequencing of the 16s ribosomal RNA gene;
    • 3. Formation of conclusions about the possibility of managing insulin resistance in the Kazakh population by modifying the species structure of the intestinal microbiome.
  • Expected results.
  • Based on new scientific data, additional opportunities for the management of insulin resistance in the Kazakh population through the modification of the species structure of the intestinal microbiota in the Kazakh population;
  • 2 publications in a peer-reviewed scientific publication indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded Web of Science database and (or) having a citescore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 35, 1 article in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publication recommended by CCES, abstracts and 2 reports on international scientific and practical conferences, guidelines.

  • "Assessment of the prognostic value of structural genome variability for the development of coronary heart disease in type II diabetes mellitus in Kazakhs"

  • The project aims to determine the predictive value of the structural variability of the genome represented 9 SNPs rs72652411, rs1011970, rs62560775, rs564398, rs10757278, rs4977574, rs1575972, rs1333051, rs2383208, on chromosome segment 9p21.3, for the development of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes in persons of the Kazakh population.
  • Project tasks.
    • 1. Collection and compilation of phenotypic and genotypic data on 600 study participants.
    • 2. Study of phenotype/genotypic associations of study participants with T2D, with CHD, with T2D and CHD, without T2D and CHD.
    • 3. Forming conclusions about the prognostic value of the structural variability of the genome, represented by different genotypes of ONP in the chromosome segment 9p21.3, for the Kazakh population in comparison with other populations. Evaluation of the possibility to consider the chromosomal segment 9p21.3 as a key molecular mechanism of the pathological interaction of coronary heart disease and T2D.
    • 4. Development, according to the received scientific data, of recommendations for clinical practice in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Expected results.
  • Based on new scientific data, a potential molecular target for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease and DM2 in the Kazakh population. The results of the study, which provide new knowledge about the molecular pathway of CHD and DM2, will expand the understanding of common points in pathogenesis and will have an impact on the directions of future research.

  • «Study of associations of some genotypes with Diabetic Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy in the Kazakh population»

  • The project aims to determine the predictive value of the structural variability of the genome, represented by polymorphisms with a previously proven relationship/association with DM2, for the development of CAN in the Kazakh population.
  • Project tasks.
    • 1. Collection and compilation of genotypic and phenotypic data on 400 study participants.
    • 2. Formation of a database of phenotypic and genotypic data for each participant of the study and statistical evaluation of phenotype/genotypic associations.
    • 3. Epidemiological analysis of the prevalence of the cardiovascular form of diabetic neuropathy (hereinafter - CDN) among 20,000 individuals of the Kazakh population from among the contingent of BMC UDP.
    • 4. Forming conclusions about the prognostic value of the structural variability of the genome, represented by different genotypes, for the development of CFDN in DM2.
  • Expected results.
  • Based on new scientific data, a potential molecular target for the prevention of cardiovascular complications of DM2 in the Kazakh population;
  • A presentation at an international conference, at least 2 (two) articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) with a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database less than 35 (thirty five); as well as at least 2 (two) articles or reviews in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publication recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, methodological recommendations.

  • Participation in implementation of scientific-technical program of personalized and preventive medicine integration in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the implementation period 2021-2023, Professor V. Benberin, scientific supervisor, academician of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RoK), Doctor of Medical Sciences. Source of funding: Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Purpose: to assay genetic risks of arterial hypertension among the Kazakh population.
  • Expected result: to conduct a correlation analysis between 2.5 million single nucleotide polymorphisms and phenotypic data among 700 study participants, to form recommendations for practical healthcare.
  • Expected scientific product: 4 publications of research results in foreign indexed journals with a non-zero impact factor, methodological recommendations

 

  • Scientific technical program «Study of genetic risk features of diseases associated with metabolic syndrome”, implementation period 2018-2020, Professor V. Benberin, scientific supervisor-academician of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RoK), Doctor of Medical Sciences. Source of funding: Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Purpose: to develop a scientific basis for a personalized approach to the disease management associated with metabolic syndrome.
  • Result: a correlation analysis was performed between the identified single nucleotide polymorphisms and phenotypic features among 3000 participants which made it possible to determine their impact on the progression of arterial hypertension, obesity, diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease among the Kazakh population, and the connection with the prognosis of functional longevity was determined. The result was a management model for the metabolic syndrome and diseases associated with it. 
  • Scientific product: 4 utility model patents, 22 certificates for intellectual property objects, 7 methodological recommendations, 23 reports at international scientific forums (USA, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Kazakhstan), 28 publications of research results, 19 of them - in foreign peer-reviewed journals, monograph. 

 

  • Jointly with Karaganda State Medical University, implementation of a fragment of the scientific and technical program on the topic "Research of gene polymorphisms associated with myocardial remodeling and carotid artery remodeling in arterial hypertension among the Kazakh population", R. Karabayeva, Head of the temporary research group, Doctor of Medicine, implementation period 2018-2020. Source of funding - Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • Purpose: to identify genetic predisposition to early remodeling of carotid arteries and myocardium in arterial hypertension among the Kazakh population and to develop methods for assessing the risk of their development
  • Result: a correlation analysis was performed between the identified single nucleotide polymorphisms and phenotypic features among 1000 participants, which made it possible to determine their impact on early systemic vascular resistance remodeling in hypertension among the Kazakh population, and determined the relationship with the prognosis of functional longevity.
  • Scientific product: 5 author certificates, 4 reports at international conferences (Spain, Sweden, Lithuania, Russia, Kazakhstan); 8 publications on research results, 4 of them - in foreign peer-reviewed journals.  

 

 

 

  • Jointly with Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, implementation of a fragment of the scientific and technical program on the topic: "Study of genetic markers of aggressive course of prostate cancer and breast cancer among the Kazakh population", N. Shanazarov, Head of the temporary research group, Doctor of Medicine, implementation period 2017-2019. Source of funding: Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • Purpose: to study single-nucleotide polymorphisms that allow predicting the aggressive course of prostate and breast cancer among the Kazakh population.     
  • Result: a correlation analysis was performed between the identified single nucleotide polymorphisms and phenotypic features among 4000 participants, significant ones were identified in the aggressive course of breast and prostate cancer among the Kazakh population.
  • Scientific product: 4 author certificates, 4 methodological recommendations, 8 reports at international conferences (Spain, Russia, Kazakhstan); 8 publications of research results, 2 of them - in foreign peer-reviewed journals.
