The Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan operates a "Center for Gastroenterology and Hepatology," which provides diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of digestive system diseases, including liver and biliary tract pathologies.

The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Center specializes in treating diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as major conditions of the liver and biliary tract. These include esophageal disorders; conditions associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, such as chronic gastritis, stomach ulcers, and duodenal ulcers; chronic pancreatitis and other pancreatic diseases; dysfunction of the gallbladder and sphincter of Oddi; inflammatory bowel disease; various forms of chronic hepatitis, fibrosis, and liver cirrhosis; fatty liver diseases related to metabolic disorders; gallstone disease, and other gastroenterological and hepatological conditions.

Additionally, the Center treats obesity, toxic, viral, and autoimmune hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver developing from metabolic disorders, and pre-cancerous liver conditions.

"We most frequently see patients with gastritis and complaints related to biliary tract disorders. In the majority of cases, we identify a Helicobacter pylori infection, which resides in the stomach's mucous lining. This infection may not present noticeable symptoms, but over time it damages the stomach and poses a threat to the entire body. Upon confirming the diagnosis, we always prescribe antibacterial treatment," explains Bakhytzhan Bimbetov, the head of the Center.

Since the beginning of the year, 758 patients have received treatment at the Center, and approximately 7,000 have sought consultations.

Thanks to the Center's multidisciplinary team, patients receive care in close collaboration with the hospital's consulting and diagnostic department, endoscopy and ultrasound diagnostics, clinical diagnostic laboratory, as well as specialists including a dietitian, endocrinologist, cardiologist, dermatologist, neurologist, psychotherapist, oncologist, surgeon, and morphologist. This multidisciplinary approach to treating gastrointestinal and liver diseases allows for the achievement of positive outcomes.

The Center is engaged not only in diagnostics and treatment but also in scientific research, training, and public health education.
