BREAST CANCER PREVENTION
Breast cancer is one of the cancers where self-diagnosis is very effective.
1. Regular self-examination: you should check your breasts once a month after menstruation for lumps, nodules, discharge, changes in color or shape.
2. Mammography is the “gold standard”: mammography is recommended according to screening programs (from the age of 40, every 2 years) to detect early signs of breast cancer.
3. Healthy lifestyle: avoiding smoking and alcohol, physical activity and maintaining a normal weight.
4. Healthy food: especially beneficial for breast health - broccoli, cauliflower and white cabbage, flax seeds, turmeric, red and orange vegetables, berries, walnuts, black beans, whole grain products.
5. Hormone therapy: the presence of a hereditary factor requires consultation with a physician about the possibility of hormone therapy.
6. Prophylactic mastectomy: in rare exceptional cases, with a high genetic risk of developing breast cancer, the doctor may recommend removal of the breasts as a preventive measure.
Remember, it is important to consult with your doctor to determine the best strategies for prevention and early detection of breast cancer in your particular case.
