The Sports Medicine Center has been operating on the basis of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2022. Professional athletes, as well as individuals leading an active lifestyle and suffering from musculoskeletal injuries, receive treatment here. The Center has also signed Memorandums of Cooperation with the Union of Athletes of Kazakhstan and several sports clubs.
According to the Head of the Sports Medicine Center, 310 patients have received treatment since the beginning of the year. The Center performs surgeries unique for Kazakhstan. In particular, the arthroscopic Latarjet procedure for shoulder dislocation with coracoid process transposition is performed only in our hospital. In addition, last year the transfer of the latissimus dorsi muscle for irreparable rotator cuff tears was introduced.
“We opened the Center on the basis of the Traumatology Department and specialize in treating professional athletes. We have signed a Memorandum with the Union of Athletes of Kazakhstan, whose members receive free treatment at our hospital – from consultation to surgery. We also have agreements with a number of sports clubs in Kazakhstan and in the city of Astana. We provide care not only to athletes, but also to ordinary citizens with knee or shoulder injuries,” explained the Head of the Sports Medicine Center, orthopedic trauma surgeon of the highest category, Askar Baimukhametov.
It should be noted that among the Center’s patients were well-known athletes such as Zhansay Smagulov, Shavkat Rakhmonov, and Sanzhar Adilov.
