For the first time, a pilot project on drug labeling and control has been implemented at Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan

7 packages of the injectable drug “Rekormon”, which came to Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the Single Distributor, have a QR-symbol stuck on them and added to the control system. That is, the history of the drug from manufacturer to patient contact will be clearly visible in the electronic application. The monitoring system can be managed by pharmacy workers and hospital doctors who prescribe treatment to the patient by registering in the application.

According to Gulsum Zhumanova, chief of the pharmacy of Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, labeling of medicines will not raise any doubts about their quality.

- In developed foreign countries the system of drug labeling has been used for a long time and has proved itself well. The peculiarity of this system is that it eliminates the possibility of drugs entering our country illegally. That is, we believe that the product comes directly from manufacturers and into the hands of patients, and is a quality drug. If before we checked visually, now we started to put into practice the electronic control of medicines, - said Gulsim Zhumanova.

It is expected that the pilot project of labeling and control of medicines will be tested until the end of the year, and the system of mandatory labeling of medicines will be finally launched in 2024.
