The annual 20th anniversary congress of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), which brings together scientists, medical professionals and other participants in the treatment of arrhythmias from around the world, was held in Barcelona, Spain.
More than 4360 delegates from Europe, USA, China, Japan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and other countries participated in the congress. The Kazakh Society of Arrhythmologists was represented by 14 physician delegates from all regions of the Republic. Ayan Abdrakhmanov, head of the Arrhythmology Center, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Chief Arrhythmologist of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan represented Kazakhstan at the Congress.
Our delegation presented 5 poster reports:
1) Correlation of NT-proBNP and left atrial pressure in patients with atypical atrial flutter after cardiac surgery and previous catheter ablation
2) Left atrial Strain as a predictor of atrial fibrillation recurrence after catheter ablation
3) Catheter ablation without fluoroscopy in pregnant with supraventricular tachycardia: substrate characterization and outcomes
4) A focus on pregnancy course and outcomes in women with complete atrioventricular block: a single center experience
5) A focus on pregnancy course and outcomes of women with zero-fluoroscopy catheter ablation during gestation: a 2-year follow-up study
Ayan Abdrakhmanov also participated in the meeting of the General Assembly and in two organizational meetings of the Committee of National Societies of the European Heart Rhythm Association.
As a result of the Congress an agreement was reached to hold the Annual International Congress of the EHRA in Kazakhstan, which is scheduled for October 13-14, 2023 in Astana, at the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of the President of EHRA - Professor Jose Merino.
It is also important to mention that this congress published a new consensus decision on cardiac conduction system stimulation together with the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS), the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society (CHRS) and the Latin American Heart Rhythm Society (LAHRS), which has already been successfully implemented in the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
